Hon’ble Mr. Justice D. Krishnakumar

  • Hon'ble Thiru Justice D.Krishnakumar was born to Thiru. A.P.Deivasigamani and Late Tmt.Saraswathi, at Dharapuram, on 22nd May, 1963.

  • Did his schooling at Government Higher Secondary School, Dharapuram. Studied B.Sc., Degree at Presidency College, Chennai, and B.L. Degree at Madras Law College.

  • Enrolled as an Advocate in the year 1987. After enrolment, joined the office of Mr.K.Duraiswamy, Senior Advocate in the Madras High Court. Served as a Government Advocate in the High Court from 1991 to 1996.

  • Served as Additional Central Government Standing Counsel from 1998-99 and Special Government Pleader from 2001 – 2006. 

  • Standing Counsel for Teachers' Recruitment Board besides several Municipalities including Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation, Indira Gandhi National Open University and other Government Undertakings. And, served as Special Government Pleader (Education) from 2013 till elevation.

  • Had extensive practice in Civil, Criminal and Writ jurisdiction in the High Court. Appointed as a Permanent Judge of the High Court of Madras on 07.04.2016.

  • Sworn in as the Chief Justice of High Court of Manipur on 22nd November, 2024.

Have been dealing with Service, Constitutional, Civil, Revenue and Administrative law matters before the Hon'ble High Court and Supreme Court for the last 25 years.

Appeared before the High Court of Madras and Madurai Bench, DRT and DRAT, City Civil Court, Sessions Courts, Magistrate Courts and other Subordinate Courts.

Standing Counsel and Legal Advisor of the Jawaharal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Porompat.

  • Took oath as Additional Judge, High Court of Manipur on 18th March 2020.

  • Schooling upto Class-X at Awang Sekmai.
  • Graduated from the D.M. College, Imphal under the Gauhati University (Assam).
  • Obtained LL.B. Degree from Delhi University.
  • Started practicing in law from 1984 in the Supreme Court of India.
  • Passed Advocate-on-record Examination in the year 1994 as 1st person from the whole North East States except Assam, who passed the examination.
  • Appointed as Standing Counsel for the state of Manipur in the Supreme Court of India in the year 1995 and continued the said post till 2013.
